RUGBY - ATT ACADEMY

ATT PAKURANGA UNITED RUGBY CLUB ACADEMY

Mission Statement

The ATT Pakuranga United Rugby Academy is committed to identifying, developing and retention of talented players from local Colleges and within the Club. Through specialist training, expert coaching and the use of quality facilities the Academy aims to develop smart and skilled rugby players. These players will have the attitude and discipline needed at the Premier level and put them on course for higher representative honours.

Objectives

  1. Indentify talented players from local Colleges and within the Club.
  2. Develop these players to their full potential using specific and specialist training.
  3. Create a rugby pathway for players from the Club through to Auckland representative sides.
  4. Continue to strengthen the Clubs relationship with local Colleges.

2022 support

A new revitalised Pakuranga Rugby Academy has received a boost in 2022 partnering alongside the Apprenticeship Training Trust (ATT).

The ATT Player Academy features six players this season; Salesi Tuifua, Kobe Kay, Jack McGregor, Moses Hafoka, Riley Harrison and Luke Lentner.

All players with big futures ahead of them, Director of Rugby Grant Henson said the purpose of the academy is to support their development.

“These are players that have shown great talent in rugby and a work ethic both on an off the field. The aim of the academy is to give them some of the tools that they will need to be not only successful in rugby, but in life.”

With the support of ATT, Academy members have access to strength and conditioning, from Premier S&C Coach Mike Patterson, a mental skills programme driven by former premier player and current PHD clinical psychology candidate Jordan Payne, nutritional advise and analysis education.

Henson said the players, and the club, were extremely grateful for ATT’s involvement.

“ATT are all about providing opportunities for people to become successful so it’s a perfect fit to have them on board with our Academy.”

ATT are specialists in securing the right apprentice for trade businesses, through mentoring, coaching and advising every step of the apprenticeship journey.

ATT Chief Executive Nicola Dashper said, they are looking forward to partnering with Pakuranga.

“We’re delighted to partner with PURC through our community engagement programme. This partnership shows ATT’s support for community clubs and organisations that we believe aligns with ATT’s mission to provide opportunities for New Zealanders to train and become successful tradespeople.”

Outside of their direct involvement with the academy, fans will see their signboard proudly displayed on the far side of Bell Park and ATT and Pakuranga will work together to present a careers evening later in the year.
