Green Machine Demolishes Otahuhu

Following on from last week’s victory in the Waka Nathan preseason tournament the Green Machine hit the pitch in round one of the ARU championship demolishing Otahuhu 100 – 7. Otahuhu don’t resemble the club they once were and struggled against a dominant Green Machine who were ready to honour our Centurion’s day audience in true style by playing entertaining rugby for the full 80 minutes.

It was indeed a game of 2 halves 50-nil and 50-7! Nick Smith starred in his 40th (Blazer game) by scoring a fine try and knocking over 8 conversions in a dominant display at 1st 5/8. Sadly in the end it became a game to get the boys off the “Nuddy Run” at seasons end as Otahuhu simply were not up to the standard required at this level.

The boys will need to work very hard this week to get back to their best as they take on College Rifles next Saturday on “The Carpet” at Rifles after they easily beat Ponsonby on Saturday.

Pakuranga 100 (George Emosi 3, Lino Tiatia 2, Aula Silipa 2, Kapeneta Masunu, Sam Thomas, David Whitecliffe-Davies, Sapu Hahea, Dwayne Polataivao, Elise Pulu, Ben Nee Nee, Toma Tia, Nick Smith tries,  Nick Smith 8 con, Wiseguy Faine 2 con)

Otahuhu 7 (M Sekona try, S Lamsam con) Halftime: 50-0
