Friday 9th June saw the much anticipated clash between the Avengers and Bats under the lights on the hallowed Bell Park turf. Neither team let the expectant crowd down with some dazzling Rippa Rugby on display. Nerves were evident before kick-off in the Bats ranks however these were soon settled by some trade mark snaking runs from Joshua Lockett and the dancing feet of Malachi Leka ending in some fine scores.

The Bats didn’t have it all their own way as the Avengers came storming back at the re-start and only some last ditch rips from Hunter Stewart and Sam Smith saved the day. It wasn’t for long though as the Avengers crossed the line with some brilliant attacking play that not even the Hulk would have stopped.

Player of the Day Finn Hawkins scored a try for the ages straight from the kick off, typical of the improvement shown throughout the team since the start of the season. The match finished with Scottish import Scott Boyd, enjoying the cooler conditions, sliding over for a score at full time. The players shook hands and headed to the club rooms for their well earned chicken nuggets and blue slushy’s.
